Weekly Photo Challenge: State of Mind

This week we were challenged to share an image where I see a particularly strong connection between what you see and what I felt as I pressed the shutter button.

What do you see?  A path shrouded in fog.  Perhaps you quickly draw the conclusion that I was feeling discouraged or lost.  I was a little disappointed, that I will admit.  And, when I pushed the shutter button I was thinking, “Good grief, this fog is just getting thicker.”

The location?  Paradise, Mt. Rainier.  The timeframe?  Last September.  The husband and I had stayed overnight at the Paradise Lodge and I had risen before dawn with hopes of catching an amazing sunrise.

It was not meant to be.

Instead, the area was socked in with fog.  I thought that if I went up higher on the trail I might get above it.  No dice.  However, the fog did play with me a bit, sweeping in and out…teasing me with glimpses of both Rainier and the Tatoosh Range before solidly settling back in.

I hiked around the trails for quite a while.  Hoping.  And, it was beautiful…in its own way. But, by the time I took this photo I was feeling a bit disgruntled about fog.
