Weekly Photo Challenge: Delta

“This week, share a photograph that signifies transitions and change to you. It can be the very beginning of a phase, or the very end. As you pick up your lens, explore the ways in which a single photograph can express time, while only showing us a small portion of any given moment.”

Delta.  That’s this week’s challenge.  The actual definition doesn’t meet with how the challenge was presented, so I’ve included the blurb above so you’ll understand that I’m actually not taking too much creative license with the challenge.

The husband and I went on a hike at Mount St. Helens yesterday.  That is one mountain that screams transitions and change.  I would say she’s somewhere in the middle of that change, at this point.  You see, she erupted in May 1980.  Now, 37 years later, much of the immediate area around her remains devastated.  But, in the midst of that…recovery. Look at the green in the valley below her.  Look at the blanket of purple and red wildflowers in the foreground (the wildflowers were absolutely amazing…I have many photos to share, so check back over the next week or so).  And, the mountain herself is recovering…actually regrowing a dome slowly over time.

She is change.
