Weekly Photo Challenge: Elemental

“For this week’s challenge, explore the classical elements of earth, air, water, and fire. How do you capture something invisible like air, or the movement of water? Or, more personally, is there a place you go to feel connected to the earth? Take a moment to explore these elements, in or out of balance, together or individually, as you pick up your camera this week.”

While in Idaho this last weekend the husband and I took advantage of the hot weather. We packed a picnic and headed into the hills to a small park on the Coeur d’ Alene river. I inflated the floaty I acquired after searching in two (maybe three) stores the day before and proceeded to get in touch with the kid within.

I spent a great amount of my childhood on the river below my grandparents’ house.  I’ve owned (and popped) more floaties than I can count.  Because of that, I cannot express how completely delightful it was to spend time in the Coeur d’ Alene.  The crystal clear water, the heat of the day, the occasional breeze, the vibrant color of the scenery around me.  I paddled, I floated, I twirled.  I was in my element in the midst of the elements.

I’ve been asked to revise my blog and give appropriate credit to the photographer. Deepest apologies to the husband for leading anyone to believe that I took my own photo whilst floating on my floatie.  Thanks, husband, for the fantabulous photo.
