Success!!!!! Day 12! And, we’re going out with a bang. Creamy, boozy, chocolatey…with a hint of molasses. It’s a Christmas dream in a glass. I have to admit, when I got home this afternoon I really didn’t want a cocktail. I wanted wine. It’s been a cocktail-heavy month. But, it was our final evening at home before packing up and heading to Idaho to spend the holiday with family, so I really didn’t have a choice. I managed.
One would think that I deliberately left this luxurious concoction as the last of the series. A smack in the face to help you remember me by. Oh, if only I was that organized. Instead, I chose “the cocktail of the evening” solely based upon what sounded good. This one just kept getting shuffled down the list.
The clear winner of the season? The Pomegranate Whiskey Sour from day five. We’ve actually enjoyed that little gem…two? three? times since it’s introduction. It’s a tasty one.
The whiskey sour combines tart, sweet, boozy. Today’s drink, the North Pole, goes a completely different direction. There is definitely a place in your holiday line-up for this one. I love that it has just a touch of molasses in it. A little goes a long ways and I could totally taste it in the finished product…in a very good way.

The North Pole (credit is completely due to halfbakedharvest.com for this one)
Recipe makes two cocktails
2 oz vodka
1 1/2 oz kahlua
2 tblsp chocolate syrup
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 tsp molasses
pinch of ginger
1/4 heavy cream or whole milk
Mix all of the above in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Pour into two martini glasses. Top with a blurp of whipped cream. Savor.
